Hi all, Sorry this is getting to you a little later today.

Click here for the reading of Exodus 22. This is another chapter full of laws for their new society, that the Israelites are learning and hearing from God. It's good to read through and learn about even these chapters from the Bible to understand the people of ancient Israel.

Today's Charles Wesley Hymn is Come Thou Long Expected Jesus. These words are so important! Let these words be our prayer today.

Hi friends, Click here for the reading of Exodus 21. This chapter is a bit monotonous. Remember that Israel had not really been a functioning nation or people because they had been enslaved by the Egyptians for hundreds of years ("surviving"). So chapters like these reflect how the people of Israel are figuring out how to live in community by way of the instructions that God is giving them through Moses (learning how to move to "thriving").

This week's Daily Sacred Music Hymns by Shirley Ruth have the common theme of Charles Wesley, the brother of John Wesley. While John is known in our Methodist circles for his great theological influence through preaching, some don't also realize that Charles had just as much to do with the beginning of the Methodist movement as John. Charles wrote over 6,000 hymns!!! Of course we know that songs might stick in our minds much more than a sermon does (yes, I admit!) so the theological influence of Charles sticks in our minds, even today! Hi all, In preparation for our lead committee chairs meeting again at the beginning of June to discuss next steps for our congregation, I wanted to send this survey out to you all to receive your thoughts and feelings about returning to church. There are also a few personal check in questions, as well.

You should be able to choose to take the survey anonymously or not.

I'll be the only person that can see the results, but I will be sharing the results regarding the first half of the survey at our next leadership meeting.

The survey will be open from today until the end of the day Sunday.

Click here to take the Check-In Survey

Thanks so much for taking a few moments to help us understand how you and our community is thinking and feeling in this time.

Blessings to you,

PT

Hi friends, Click here for the reading of Exodus 14.

Shirley Ruth likes to choose a theme for the daily sacred music she's been offering.

This week's hymns will all have one thing in common - the writer of the songs: Fanny Crosby. Fanny's story is really amazing. She became blind soon after being born but seemed to never "grumble" about it. In fact she's known for saying, "Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition, it would have been that I was born blind? Because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior."

Wow! She penned over 9,000 hymns over her lifetime. We are grateful for her diligence, intelligence and talent to write all of these songs for us to enjoy today! To learn more about Fanny Crosby, click here for an article from Christianity Today all about her!
